The deadline for nominations for any NAEA awards (with an original deadline of October 1) is now November 2, 2020. We know that this school year is definitely not “business as usual” and want to support everyone during this unique time—especially the outstanding visual arts educators who deserve national recognition. Do you know an outstanding visual arts educator, student, or supporter who deserves recognition? The NAEA awards program offers over 100 awards. Growing in scope since its inception, this program features state, regional, and national level awards. Mosaic Making Field Trip With Preservice Division and LGBTQ+ Interest Group Venue: Mercury Mosaics Venue: Mercury Mosaics & Tile, Inc., 1620 Central Ave NE, Suite 125, Minneapolis, MN 55413 Onsite: 4:00–6:00pm Workshop begins at 4:00pm—Ends approximately 6:00pm Preservice Students and LGBTQ+ Interest Group Members join us for a night of Mosaic Making and collaboration! Mercury Mosaics & Tile is welcoming us into their studio space for a tour and a hands-on mosaic workshop! Network among fellow students and LGBTQ+ members as we make art together! You will get to take home a mosaic tile and bag of grout to set your piece! Participants will be required to provide their own transportation to and from the workshop. No meal will be provided. Ticket Price: $5 Maximum Number of Participants: 50 Preservice Pecha Kucha: Saturday March 28 11am-12:50pm. Join your fellow students as they share undergraduate and graduate research, community outreach programs, student chapter initiatives, successful lesson demonstrations, and more! Experience multiple presentations throughout this session. Conversations With Colleagues: Thursday March 26th, 12pm-1:20pm. All preservice members welcome! Connect to your community of preservice peers and leaders. Bring ideas and contribute to conversations that aid in strengthening your journey as a preservice art educator. Getting the Gig: Mock Interviews (TICKETED SESSION): Friday March 27th, 12pm-1:50. Preparing to interview this year? Join the preservice and supervision division in rounds of mock interviews and receive insightful feedback to develop your skills and ensure you get the gig! Each year the NAEA Awards Program offers the opportunity to nominate outstanding art educators in all Divisions and Regions, and from each state and province for national recognition in 142 individual awards.
**Nominations are due October 1st!!** More Information: https://www.arteducators.org/opportunities/naea-awards In recognition of outstanding activities carried out during the year by a Student Chapter, the Retired Art Educators Interest Group (RAEA) annually invites nominations for the Outstanding Student Chapter Award, sponsored by the RAEA. The award, to be given annually, honors an outstanding NAEA Student Chapter. The RAEA/NAEA presents a certificate and monetary award to the selected chapter. The award is funded with proceeds earned from the RAEA Silent Auction, which is held each year at the NAEA National Convention’s Artisans Gallery. The selected chapter is encouraged to use the funds to help support student members who attend the NAEA National Convention or for special projects.
Representatives of the selected chapter are expected to give a 15-minute presentation at the Retired Art Educators Interest Group (RAEA) Awards Ceremony at the 2020 NAEA Convention in Minneapolis.
